Photovoltaic power generation is a small category of solar power generation. 1. The principle of power generation is different from the device. Thermal power generation uses steam collectors to drive steam turbines to generate electricity. It is known in the form of heat transfer, and the main component is a collector or device; while photovoltaic power generation uses the photovoltaic effect of semiconductors to convert light energy directly into electrical energy. The basic component of solar panels is the method of converting light into electricity.
2. The range of use is different. The electricity generated by solar thermal power generation has better relevance to traditional thermoelectricity and hydropower, and is suitable for large-scale development. In addition, thermal power generation has higher requirements for light conditions, so it is more suitable for areas with good light conditions. The photovoltaic power generation device is relatively simple, and the requirements for light are relatively low. It is more suitable for small-scale development and therefore more suitable for decentralized use. The application of Luoyang Zhikai Photovoltaic Power Generation is a good example.
3. Different in specific application. Photovoltaic power generation has been industrialized, and the utilization technology is more mature, suitable for large-scale promotion and use of genera. The thermal power generation is still mainly in the stage of scientific research demonstration, the cost is also at a very high level, and large-scale application will take time.
