Longji, a leading company in the photovoltaic industry, announced yesterday that the company’s research and development of N-type TOPCON batteries, P-type TOPCON batteries, and HJT batteries, the three battery efficiencies set a new world record. Subsequently, Jinko also announced that the efficiency of the large-area N-type monocrystalline silicon single junction cell reached 25.25%, setting a world record again.

Longi said that after testing and certification by the German ISFH Institute, Longi’s single-crystal double-sided N-type TOPCon battery achieved a conversion efficiency of 25.21%, setting a world record; the efficiency of commercial-size single-crystal double-sided P-type TOPCon battery reached 25.02% Of the world record is the highest efficiency of the current commercial size P-type battery; the conversion efficiency of the commercial size single crystal HJT battery reached 25.26%, breaking the world record.

Longi announced in April 2021 that the conversion efficiency of the N-type TOPCon battery reached 25.09%, setting a new world record. Only one month later, Longi shares once again set a new record set by itself.

Photovoltaic cell manufacturers have been increasing R&D efforts to promote high-efficiency cells, and there is a recent trend of acceleration. The technological iteration of the photovoltaic cell industry is approaching. However, to measure whether a technology has a promotion advantage in efficiency data, it is more important to consider the cost required to achieve such efficiency. Only when the technology has economic benefits can it be truly applied on a large scale.

The current mainstream photovoltaic cell technology is PERC cells, but the industry believes that the conversion efficiency of traditional PERC cells is facing a bottleneck, and the conversion efficiency is close to the theoretical limit of 24%, and there is limited room for improvement in the future. TOPCon and HJT are the new generation batteries most sought after by photovoltaic giants in recent years.

Solar cell (photovoltaic cell) is a kind of photoelectric semiconductor sheet that uses sunlight to directly generate electricity. As long as it is irradiated to meet certain illuminance conditions, it can instantly output voltage and generate current when there is a loop. It is called solar photovoltaic (abbreviated as PV) in physics.
